Always difficult to know whether to resurrect a thread or start a new one. Opinions? Well this time I'm asking what was asked last year here:
http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?382648-Raymarine-Classic-C-and-E-series-NMEA-connector-what-is-it/page2

...but went unanswered.

Per last thread posted, friend has acquired a boat with an E120 classic with no attached GPS and no nmea cable. Cables are available on ebay for nearly 50 quid but that's just silly. I'm presuming that these are a standard connector from someone like switchcraft (as their round seatalk-1 connectors are) which I could get from RS or similar. Any ideas?

...and anyone know the pinouts?

I doubt that they're standard plugs, but it would be easy enough to make up a connector.

The NMEA pinout is here -

Actually (Duh!) I just realised the pinouts are in the installation manual which I somehow managed to miss (but thanks anyway). My thought that they might be sold by a 3rd party was based on experience with the round seatalk connectors which took some time to find but I did track them down eventually. I'm not wholly confident on my ability to fabricate something which is closer to the functionality of the right connector than my "let's just see if this works" proof of concept involving sticking a couple of wires in :-)
