Hi All,
I have a boat equipped with older generation Raymarine navigation kit and steering, two weeks ago all working fine. This weekend C80 plotter only displaying lines, everything else ok. I don't fancy replacing all equipment, has anyone found someone or a company that can resolve C80 problems ? Alternatively a cost effective replacement for the C80 but keeping other navigation instruments and sea talk connectivity.

Thank you in anticipation.

I had the same sort of problem with a C70 unit. After searching the internet the suggested problem was a loose display contact that could be corrected by pressing down on the lower right hand side of the unit just below the screen, this resolved the problem for me temporarily. After doing this a few times, other than sending the unit away for repair, I decided to take the unit apart and reseat the black plastic clips that hold the circuit boards nearest the screen in place. Not being an expert I was quite concerned about taking the unit apart but felt I had nothing really to lose. Although I never found anything obvious like a broken clip I made sure all the clips were seated properly and reassembled the unit. That was 3 years ago and have had no further display problems. Hope this might help.

The other approach is to search eBay for second hand kit. I have the previous generation of Raymarine kit which all functions well but I’ve replaced both plotters over the last 10 years with “new” ones for a couple of hundred quid a time. I’m resigned to having to replace the radar and plotters at some point in the future but if it keeps working, I’m not about to change for the sake of it.
