Raymarine C80 boat icon image

Hi
Any ideas how to change the boat icon orientation on a Raymarine C80 from something that always points to the top of the unit. All other functions work . Complete re set does not change it. Changing from course up, head up etc does not alter the icon

Rather than wade through that lot the first thing to check is that the C80 is receiving heading information from a suitable source (eg fluxgate compass) - without a heading input the boat icon will do exactly what you describe

And to check it is receiving the info somewhere in the diagnostics screen is a page where you can monitor the incoming messages.

No Richard.

I can only dream about radars, MFDs, auto pilots and the like at this stage.

But I have a Panasonic Toughbook and I have started to download nautical charts but I'll look at OpeCPN sometime down the track.

I'd suggest you phone Raymarine's Technical Help people - then you'll get an answer from someone who actually knows what they're talking about! They're very helpful.

Scuse me but i do know what I'm talking about! Firstly I've got a C80 on Pagan and had exactly the same problem (caused by a faulty connection to the fluxgate compass) and secondly because i spent three years installing Raymarine MFDs!

Nothing wrong with the advice given so far at all but since it's odds on that a lack of heading input is the culprit pardon me for trying to save the OP the time spent wading through it all by cutting to the chase!

Indeed.

It makes me wonder what the point of PBO is? We might as well just have a "sticky" at the top which says "Telephone the Manufacturer".
