Hi!

I went to the London boatshow and Raymarine were offering winter deals on upgrades to a newer digital radar system which got me thinking about replacing mine. There's nothing particularly wrong with it but I really liked the DownVision sonar which isn't compatible :(. I've since been looking at Garmin and now not sure if I should replace everything to match :ambivalence:

Has anyone done this recently - if so what were your reasons and are you happy you did?

I replaced a C120 Classic/analogue radar setup with ES125/digital radar/downvision a couple of years ago, the ES125 is nice, but in truth I never use the downvision.

I just finished an upgrade from C120 Classic and analogue Radar to a C125 with Quantum radar.

I'm not bothered about fish finder so didn't go for that specific model.

I'm happy with the change, especially as I can now get Sonarcharts displayed (using the Navionics charts).

Bear in mind that you can resell your old kit - I sold my old gear via this forum which made the move more financially palatable.

If it's just for the down vision, buy a little dragonfly. Would be a much cheaper route.

I bought Kenny's C120 & radar and very happy with it :). The newer ones are all networkable as well without weighing a tonne like the E-series which is all heatsink! You might want to consider two small displays to keep sonar on one and chart / radar on the other.
