We went out in the boat for the first time in 3 months yesterday, and the Raymarine Autopilot display was "washed out", ie a few pixels and none of the buttons did anything.

Water ingress was suggested, possibly as a result of the recent storms? Is this possible and what's the best approach to fixing the problem?

Thanks in advance

Mike

Mike, I would start with taking it to bits and popping it in the airing cupboard overnight.

I agree. Several times now my mfd which is inside the boat has been dodgy after the winter and recovered as we warmed up the boat. I think the same would apply. Not even sure you need to take it apart, just put the unit in the cupboard as is, if the water got in, it can get out.

Thanks, the a/p is now partially dismantled at home. I managed to remove 3 sides of the display from the main body, the 4th was at the base of the display and seemed stubborn so best left as is. No obvious damage...

Hopefully it's now opened sufficiently to allow it to dry over the next few days.

Do you know what ACU you have? The black box down below, I mean. I think that control head was used both with S1 and X30 Smartpilots, and perhaps also some other models.

Eureka !!!! it works after drying on the radiator for a couple of days. I was dreading the alternative, buying a second hand one with no guarantee for £200 plus.
