Please forgive a stupid question but I am not too technical.
I have a Raymarine C125 MFD I can download a Raymarine App called RayControl which enables me to use a tablet as a fully functioning MFD but in the event the MFD failed would the tablet still work as a stand alone MFD?
Many thanks for your help.

I'm not sure that app works a C .. I have a E7 and it works fine...
You can use the iPad as you would the plotter anywhere on the boat via its own wi.fi.
You can change screens, zoom in and out and keep an eye on where second in command is heading.

Ah ... I stand corrected. The latest C dose have lighthouse and can use wifi to talk to iPads etc...
You have to make sure you follow the instructions to the letter for it to connect ... Let us know what your doing and where it's not working.... You must go in the menu and turn on wifi for a start . Then log onto plotter with your tablet

I have successfully connected a tablet to my new e7 using bluetooth and have used the Raycontrol app - so if I can do it the process must be quite easy .

You have to enable bluetooth connection on both devices and make sure the devices are set to allow them to be visible .

After the devices are paired you just tap on the raycontrol icon on the tablet after first switching on the plotter - easy. A cheap way to get a second screen but bear in mind the tablet screen is useless in outside daylight and the tablet really needs to be on charge via the boat DC supply while in use as the gps will be battery hungry.
I have separate ' marine navigator' offline app on the tablet as backup - the tablet has its own built in gps - I bought the tablet from Londonchartplottters, which includes the marine navigator app already installed , and others .

Bluetooth is used for the separate remote control unit rather than the apps which use WiFi
