Raymarine 54E VHF Radio - Cover Removal

Does anybody know how to remove the cover on a Raymarine 54E VHF radio. I found a technical note on the internet and it says to remove the six screws on the rear of the unit. I have done this but I am still unable to slide the rear part of the cover away from the front panel. Is there some trick to this?? Thanks for any help that anyone is able to provide.

I am also trying to remove rear cover of RAY54E.
Did you manage to remove it?

Sorry, I only just saw our mail!! No, I have ended up "binning" the radio, as the microphone cable had disintegrated and finding a replacement would have ended up as a "bodge"!!!

Not sur eof this model but typically the whole cover will slide back with the guts and front panel going forward. Try a screw driver under the lugs at the back that the screws go through. (if it is anything like what I have in mind)
Reminds me a a sad story. Our club rescue boat sank with radio under water for some time. Me being an optimistic radio boffin took it to see if it was resurrectable. It is supposed tio be water proof? Pulled the cover off on the work bench only to have about 100ml of sea water run out all over the place. Yes I binned it.
Alan Cloke should open up his radio as I think replacement mic may be available. The cable and grommet go through the front panel to a connector on board. ol'will

Replacement mic is not available. Many of these radios have been scrapped due to the mic cable disintegrating.
