I am in the process of adding a GPS repeater to my instrument display above the companionway. I currently have ST60 wind and speed and a NASA clipper depth. Down below I have Raymarine 435 chartplotter ( which is on the nav desk and is staying there) and a garmin 128 GPS linked to a DSC radio.

I therefore thought a NASA GPS repeater running from my Chartplotter would give me the missing link of position SOG and trackway course when on a passage.

However whilst testing before fitting I am unable to get a GPS signal from the chartplotter despite connecting the yellow +ve out to the blue NMEA connection. It works fine from the Garmin 128 alongside the DSC radio connection, but I would prefer to take my info from the 435 as this is used for passage planning etc.

I imagine there are several replies...

1. It won't work.... incompatible 435 and GPS repeater
2. I am a donut and I ve missed something obvious
3. If no 1 applies which make and model of repeater will work?

Hopng someone can help. I ve read all the instructions cover to cover.

Yes, but the cross-track error the OP wants to display will only be output by whichever is tracking to a waypoint. A GPS128 could do that, but he uses his plotter instead.

Aha! Then it's a very good point and I should but my brain in gear before opening my mouth :-)

It should work! Have you connected the NMEA -ve to the Raymarine brown wire?

I ve connected yellow to the +ve and brown to the -ve. I also tried the input ones for good measure.

My question concerns the baud rate or similar of the 435........ is it compatible with the nasa repeater? Some GPS have baud rate that are adjustable, the 435 doesn't seem to have any options around this.

It may well supply a suitable signal to a DSC radio, but my query regards the 435 and Nasa GPS repeater specifically.

Thanks
