Ray240 handset coil cable: where to get it?

According to this thread on Raymarine forum, it is still available, with part number R49144.
But I can't for the life of me find anyone actually selling it, aside from a US supplier advertising it at $200 (!), and who doesn't have it on stock, anyway.
Not for myself btw, but for a boating mate whose technical skills only stretch as far as using smartphones for phone calls... :rolleyes:
Any suggestions welcome!
 
This doesn't really help but I had the same problem, I ditched the raymarine and went for an icom instead.

Buy a different make VHF. The Raymarine VHFs were unreliable (to be polite).

It's hard to go wrong with Icom.
 
On eBay I bought a coil cable for my Shipmate RS6300 mic for £77
There is a guy in Greece who makes them. If you do an eBay search and find the seller there may be a chance he could make one up. Bit of an outside punt but looks like you’re running out of options.
 
I think your friend will need to send it back to a Raymarine service center for the cable to be replaced. I contacted Raymarine a couple of years ago about my 230 handset cable and screen, they no longer have screens but would replace the cable. I ended up buying a second hand 230 to swap the handset over.

I don't know. I'd be mildly surprised if Raymarine made custom plugs but it's not impossible. I can give KCB a call if you like.

I think Raymarine do have bespoke cable fittings made which is probably why some of their parts are so expensive.
Try finding a STNG cable that isn't a Raymarine product.

Yes

I started a thread recently asking for advice about a defective handset cable for an old Raymarine VHF radio. It being an obsolete model, I automatically assumed that Raymarine would not be interested. Eventually I contacted their service department and found that a new cable could be fitted at a very reasonable price.

Anyway, thanks for all the suggestions.
I think I have by now a clear enough picture to give to the friend of mine whose handset cable is shot, and it'll be up to him to choose the route he prefers.
