Since the weather is rubbish today, I crunched some additional data from the Ray Sand that I collected yesterday and have updated the chart accordingly.

It now has the updated Crouch buoyage (the Outer Crouch No 1 and 2 are adjacent) and more detail on the east side of the chart (the best bit to cross).

The Ray Sand buoy is shown in the correct position which generally it isn't on commercial charts. I've checked it three times now and is approx 51.39.030N 000.59.300E. This is pretty good position for it.

The 1 degree meridian is a good half tide route all the way to the Blackwater.

Can be downloaded as a pdf here:

Trinity House finished their work in the Outer Crouch now.

A rising tide crossing then , Turn to port after the last seal :) then wait if you get it wrong ;)

Thanks for ALL your hard work Tillergirl :)

Scraped across here again on Monday. Took a desperate diagonal course over two hours after HW, from the point to well north of the Ray buoy, fingers were crossed, but clear all the way.

The chart is great.

Could have done with something like this while in Narrow Cuts, heading to the Havengore bridge, very interesting.

Many thanks Tillergirl !

Printed and put in my sailing bag under the stairs.

All ready to go.

The 1 degree meridian you mention looks good. It will be fun to try and steer this course without looking at the GPS.

Thanks for the kind comment. Not sure I would get enough time to do a proper job there. It's surprising how long it takes to get all the data.

Must confess to cheating yesterday - laptop in the cockpit and tillerpilot on! But strictly only in the service of customers you understand. I wanted to collect data so I had to stay on it. Why is it that it was happy to steer down the 001.00.015 meridian and not the 001.00.000!
