Ray marine to I pad

Ahh thanks ... I’ve bought a 1998 boat and the previous owner has takes out all the instruments but has left me with a ray marine e96 to install

I never went for a chartplotter as I never found I needed one for our kind of sailing.

But as I carried an iPad with me everywhere for music, TV, reading and work I tried the Navionics app for planning between cruises. Then left it on on the chart table and it morphed into a plotter.

Musn’t leave it in sunlight as it will go off for 10 minutes but that’s never been an issue as it sits on the chart table. Works great.

I have traditional and a tablet. I disagree about not seeing in sunlight. Angle is everything. If it is angled slightly downwards from vertical it's perfectly fine.

Same here, wife uses her Samsung Tab with navionics, never a prob viewing. We do have a cockpit canopy, we are in Portugal. I also set up a VyachtWifi system with the Standard Horizon radio feeding AIS to it and I wifi that out to my Ipad a d Tab. If you are patient you can also wifi nmea 2000 data out, so that simple software can display engine and wind etc data.

I have a Raymarine E95 MFD fitted to my boat. I mainly cruise inland but during a 3 week coastal cruise last year I mainly used the iPad. I found it great to sit down after dinner and plan the following days route. My E95 can connect to Navionics on the iPad and I can upload routes. I like having both but I definitely use the iPad more.
