I am now installing raw water alarms to my TAMD61A engines on my Turbo 36 togeather with exhaust alarms. The ID of the hose is 2" as are the barbs on the alarm fitting but still a bit of a struggle to fit even coated with silicone grease!
I managed to cut the hose with my angle grinder using a 1mm disc and cut through neatly with no problem.

I am installing the alarm panels on the fly bridge as well as inside and running the cables is a bit of a challenge to say the least.

looks good, how does it do the measuring of (I guess) volume of water going through?
Is there some sort of thing moving/spinning?

There are many different types of flow switched

Everything You Need To Know About Flow Switches | RS

The one shown looks like a Paddle water Flow Switches which has a paddle that is moved by the flow of water to switch a micro switch.

I have some in my water cooled air con to ensure water is flowing before the compressor operate

Like this which will fit into any size of tee pipe fitting and the paddle size is adjusted to the required sensitivity.

This is simply a switch controlled by a "paddle" in the pipe.If the water flow fails or drops to a low level the switch will close and operate a buzzer and warning light.
