Rat on board suggestions please

It saddens me that everyone is so up for killing the rat. Given it needs to be captured in the open so poison isn't an option anyway and it has to be some kind of trap - really is there any point in it not being a live capture trap?

Released somewhere sensible ashore it's unlikely to find it's way back... just join the countless others. So what's the need for killing it? It's not your enemy... just a wild creature being a nuisance. And this isn't a chicken farm or anything - I can see the need for reducing the local population in that setting... but on a yacht?

Trap it. Shift it. Live and let live.

Lots of success with cage traps to be read about on Amazon etc.
