A little east of portmellon tonight trying to get out of the swell building up from sw. Silence other than the in mast cables. Must be a patch of shrimp further up in the bay. Or as you say, mr Mitchell. Thanks for the book links and info.

Terry we might have to pop to yh to borrow your brizo if you're in when we're next in Plymouth, if it's available to hire? What's the going rate in pints?

But easterlies coming on Thursday by the look of it so may head further west for a time first.

You would be more than welcome to borrow the Brizo but............ Handle is at the bottom of the Yealm.:( Don't ask !!.......suffice to say I was mighty p*ssed off .
 
Can't be. After reading about it on YBW we paid a local polyestermite treatment centre (Viper Oils Ltd) a small fortune last year for a preventative coating. Very good stuff apparently.

And well worth it as insurers won't cover you for events resulting from marine borers.

My wife thinks I'm a marine borer though so we are probably not covered for anything anyway.
 
It's probably shrimps but I used to get those noises quite regularly on my mooring on the Exe. I put it down to mullet crunching barnacles on the hull, they were very effective cleaners. Either way, a noise not to be worried about.

As to cleaning your hull, are you happy in the water? If so, get yourself a plastic scraper (one of those used to scrape ice off a car windscreen is ideal), a good pair of gloves such as the £1 marmalade ones from Mole Valley Farmers, as well as a mask and snorkel, and maybe a wetsuit, but not essential at this time of year, and get scraping. I could clean the hull of my previous 32 footer in under an hour. Good exercise too!
