Ramsholt Dock news

I'm with you on that one!
The last time I recall something (boaty) like this related to moorings on the Orwell where the local council had charged people when they had no juristiction.

That was a good one though. If you were unfortunate enough to have been charged twice, as I was, you got a full refund of the excess with interest paid at 8%! Better than any investment in the period. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Indeed he is!

Its still one of teh few places left that reflects sailing of a few years ago...

We were there last year, and he just muttered "no charge for a single night" and left us too it!

A grand attitude that left us feeling very good about the place.

Talking about "thanking George""..... I have a mooring but when any of my mates come visiting and George sorts out a mooring they will make a point of seeing George next mooring (when the risk has passed) and give him a fiver for a drink. George does appreciate the gesture.

The honorarium for the Harbour Master is not significant, perhaps what you marina guys pay for a year. George is there 7 days a week 52 weeks of the year, in season from 9am to 7ish pm, often with Bill, his brother. If you treat him with "old fashioned" respect he is the best friend you can have.

A jolly decent bloke from an eara long gone. He also likes a bottle of red.
