Does any one know if there has been any dredging done at the western marina? Had hell of a time trying to get out of the moorings at LW last year and heard they were planning to dredge.
I don't believe so. Last I heard (in January) it was imminent but I've heard nothing further.
Problem is that the harbour owned by the local Council with all the usual issues about priorities of funding. However I was told that the money had been found for the work.
If you are just passing through on passage it is quite feasible to anchor between the harbor wall and the Quern bank and not go into the harbor at all. Close by the little cardinal marking the bank or close by the walls, depending on the wind direction. If we have been unable to make Dover we have seen out the foul tide and got some ZZZ's there a time or two.
Ramsgate is one of those places I seem to get storm bound so whenever possible I avoid it and on the occasions I have been in there seems to be very little water at LW by the lighthouse on the inner west pier.
