Very reasonable compared to the solent! We are 46 foot and pay around £400 pcm for a space in the inner marina. It is council owned and the support and help we get from the dockmasters is fantastic. PM me if you'd like more info.

You are kidding - it was a lovely place to be. We had a great time there for 18 months before we came cruising.

Odd the way Ramsgate brings out the haters.
I love the place and had a very happy season there when I worked nearby about 5 years ago. I still go back for the odd weekend to enjoy the town - great architecture, good and varied restaurants (as well as the dross ones), and harbourside bars to enjoy. I wonder what bad experiences (or lack of taste) some people have had.

You must have been there when we were there, we left in July 2008. It was a great place, some lovely bars along the front - Miles' hot chocolate takes a lot of beating!

Were you based there when the ferries were running, large lorries rumbling past for hours at a time? Had to shout to be heard? Before the marina was poshed up?

Think you have the place confused with Dover.
Even when the ferry was running, never had lorries thundering past at all hours or had exhaust soot on deck.

We went in for a day but the camp commandant kept us there for several and the search light on the harbour wall kept catching us trying to escape. There were more poles than in Poland, the place was dirty and run down. Mothers with sixty eight kids everywhere and a fishing fleet that thought it was fun to see how much they could bash you against the pontoon in the early hours of the morning. To add to this the daily rate was one of the most expensive... no not my cup of tea.

It was much nicer inside the lock. Clean, tidy, no public access and no fishing boats!

Used to be the only place I visited which had a pub on every corner, and one in the middle in case you got thirsty from one to to the other. All gone now I expect if it has been poshed up.
