Sorry; I've gone through my list of possible stockists ( head done in again !!)
I dont know how the previous owner reefed but there was no sign of anything for the cringle at the mast. Tried a Karabeener through an eye on top of a vertical pin but the gap was too big so it put strain on the slides. We really need rams horns on top of the vertical pin. I can locate in the US but not in UK. Any steers on the rams horns please!?

If it is a Kemp / Z-Spars style gooseneck then perhaps there is a small space between the pin and the mast fitting that will take the bent rod style reefing horns.. part nos... 1492 / 1493 etc in the attached.

Z-Spars example of reefing horns

See page 2 for the side view and page 5 for an exploded diagram.

Rams horns

I would suggest rather that you go for another reefing line to the tack. If it is angled down and forward on the mast you can get the luff perfectly aligned so no load on slugs. You can reef and unreef from the cockpit and no worries about the tack falling off the rams horns. All for the cost of a few pulleys saddles and a bit of rope to a cleat (for each reef).good luck olewill

Eurospars are a Sparcraft agent, it would be good to know the mast type? The Z Spar fitting may work on other makes as long as there is a slot in the Gooseneck toggle. From memory the Sparcraft reef hook attaches to the top of the vertical pin and the Z Spar hook just slots into the toggle part. The Barton option will work also.

Thats all very helpfull. I will start with Barton although I had tried their site initially ( perhaps I was getting tired by then.
I will look with interest at the other suggested sites.
Yes, Olewill we will investigate the whole process. At this time we are accepting that someone will have to go forward. We have a wheel house which just adds another complication to getting the lines back.
Thanks all (once more)

Following this thread with interest as I've a similar problem. The part number does not seem to be recognised on the Barton site but Jimmy Green does list as Barton Gooseneck with both numbers given earlier as good.

I have the same lack of horns but use a rope with an eye and just tie the sail down to the boom. Is that not a simple answer or am I missing something?
