I wish to raise the anti-foul waterline on my hull. Advice please on the following two points?

a) How do I remove the existing painted stripe?
b) What preparation does the GRP require before painting on Anti-fouling

alternatively take all the junk out of your lockers and pile it on the jetty browse through and only keep that which is necessary - bet your boat will float 2" higher!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did mine last winter just with fine wet and dry to get rid of the boot topping stripe and to take the shine off the new bit of GRP to be painted over.

There are antifoul undercoats available but Ididnt bother and it has stayed on allright.

Incidentally the above post about getting rid of all the junk is not as sarcastic as you may think,Every autumn Iremove EVERY non esential item from my boat as Ijust do the odd daysail through the winter.

It shows an extra inch or two of antifoul and sails better ,sadly most of the junk has to go back on board in the spring.

I did this last spring and just painted over the stripe with antifouling - worked for me. The stripe was International MPX - supposedly for boot stripes but I found pretty useless as antifouling.

Hi
We sold our Calatla 9m and yes when we unloaded our "personal gear" it floated about 3 iches higher. Its an advantage/disadvantage of a cat there is so much space you don't realise haow much you carry!
