Rain wind moan moan

I suppose that having had a cracking period of real summer weather, it's own turn to cop some rotten stuff now.
We're supposed to be setting off from the Swale at sparrow-fart tomorrow heading for Tollesbury (for a Moody owners' do) but the weather runes are suggesting lots of NE wind which will be positively no fun at all coming down-Swin.
Even if the blow doesn't come until later tomorrow, as I am starting to suspect, the runes are also predicting more than our fair share of rain over the following few days, when we are free of baby-sitting and were going to potter about over there for a week.
Mind you, the resident gardener will wonder whether to smile because it's raining, or sympathise with me 'cos we're not sailing.

Where is that Smug Smiley? I cannot beliveve how lucky I was with the weather for my trip in May / June. Met up with a friend yesterday who was on his boat in July setting off from Gosport for the South West and in the end never left the Solent. He spent 4 or 5 days in Cowes with over 30 knots blowing!! Must be very depressing for those tied to Scholl Holidays too.

Having said that since I have been back I have only been out on the boat once (Pirate Weekend) as the weather / need to earn Brownie Points / my back has seen to the rest of the weekends.

We have two weeks starting Monday and a SWMBO who likes warm and sunny, and is not that fussed about sailing. Only 23ft with sitting headroom does not make an attractive picture sitting out the downpours

Maybe next week will be better ? Or worse

Yes, blimey, hugely entertaining this afternoon in Tollesbury loafing in the cockpit of Saguday today, under the shelter of the newly-erected bimini watching the soggy Moody owners traipse in in between lashing of rain, 40knot winds, lighting, thunder, hail and brimstone. Apparently there's 16 Moody's due in by tomorrow (our friend Colin Shead seems to have somehing to do with it) plus another 4 or 5 from Bradwell. Spoke to one chap in a Westerly who'd come down from Ipswich and said it was 40 knot squalls and lightning all around all the way down. He looked knackered. Said it was hitting so close it was making the hull shake. Anyway, I'm sure it will be all nice and fine tomorrow and Tollesbury is a fine place to be holed up in. The new chef-ette is great had a super meal this evening. Pop over to J pontoon and look for the only beige boat in the marina and say hello.

15 now, and yes he has a lot to do with it.
Having perused the forecasts, on average Saturday looks OK now but after that it's all downhill, so we're cruising over at 70kn via the M2, M25 and A-something. Will certainly come and say hello, between 1700-1800 if you're there.
