This all looks very familiar.
So I'll throuw my 2 cents worth in.
I don't the the thing as a powerv sail issue.
Its almost entirely confined to the South coast, and is really a symptom of rat effect.
In my 20 years I have sailed the NEcoast, NW coast and N Wales.
I have had one unpleasant incident with a motor boat. in N Wales.
I don't doubt there are a few people who buy a mobo thinking they can drive it like their car.
Trouble is almost all of these people are Solent based - which gives them they opportunity to annoy the maximum possiblenumber of raggies - and they do.
I don't say this is confined to mobos eg the man whose girlfriend drove into the rocks recently. Its just that you can upset alot more people when your doing 30kts than when you are doing 5.
And when you are doing it in what is probably the highest density ofsailing boats in Europe problems are inevitable.
Most certainly there are issues between raggies but they seem to be addressed rather differently for some reason.
All a load of nonsense really and thnkfully one that doesn't occur where I sail.
Anyway I'm a ragpotter now so can be friends with both sides.
