you've got it all wrong, I'm surprised an edukatid chap like yersel isnae aware of the Archimedes principle. I displace more water than my neighbour therefor it means I've made more water available to float other boats on so the heavier the boat the less you should pay. Simple really!

Aye, ah kin recall the wee fella in the merkit at Cumnock. Fae whit a recall he wis called Erchie Menzies an' he wis sellin aw sort of exotic stuff. Och that's a wee bit extreme. If you take the spectrum of light to heavy, light sits on top of the water & displaces none, therefore should be charged full price. Totally heavy has sank therefore has displaced all its water. It is self evident that the sinker is free. Therefore the price obviously is on a sliding scale with the top price being paid by the lightest & zero by the heaviest. Can't see a flaw in this at all. I'm off to load up the boat with more beer to make it heavier & save a bit of dosh.
