Rafting Up Rudeness

In Cowes easter weekend I parked the boat inshore of the town quay cos some miserable raggies all said they were going in ten mins etc, and I could not moor alongside them, the harbour master reccomended the place, the boat I moored alongside was spring 25 and he did not secure my boat properly when he slipped out and I ended up with a smashed stern light, but I remember the name of the boat, and its got a green stripe which is unusual for a spring 25 and I saw it going back into hamble later that day and when I spot the boat I am gonna shit in his winch handle pocket.!!

I have to say that working with lots of Norwegians my experience is that once they've hud a few swallies, the aw become yon troll thingumybobs. Loud, very loud and extremely arrogant & bolshie. Once were Vikings.....yeah right. Danes are tarred with the same brush. It's definitely linked to this Valhalla syndrome.

Rafting up on buoys is common in Newtown, however, unless it has changed this year, you will find that you pay your mooring fee for sole use of a buoy. The harbourmaster has always said it is up to the first occupant to decide whether they wish to have another boat rafted alongside.
In Lymington I expect to raft 5 deep and don't mind. If I could get a buoy to myself in Newtown I would do so, likewise if they were all taken, I would anchor rather than raft onto someone else.
The situation of it being "the only available spot" is extremely unlikely, it's not like a town quay with only so many spaces. If there was no room left to anchor, I wouldn't want to stay and would go somewhere else.

Ah you poor souls, I sail off the west coast of Ireland and rarely even see another non-fishing boat let alone feel the need to raft up to him. From where I sit, I can see the three unused visitors buoys in Kilkeiran bay.

Uncomfortable heat can lead to excessive burning sensations, dehydration and lack of sleep. As can too much Guinness.

Yes you are correct. Newtown is 1 per buoy except for lunch stops. I must say I would be a little bit (politely) irritated if this happened to me there, as previously stated there is always anchoring room, even in August.

By the way did you know that anchoring at Newtown is half price if you are an NT member!

2 quid instead of 4 quid for 36ft.. every little bit helps!

Well yes of course, however at least in this location I don,t mind paying as it is singularly beautiful and the fees go back into the NT funds, which I suppose most people would support.

On the whole the Norwegians are OK - I think I've meet the Norwegian you met in the Fair lsles - did he come from Bergen?. Its the party culture here to get drunk. I would soon be with a party of drunk Norwegians then Brits. They just went to laugh and have a good time. The Brits just get aggressive.
