Hi to all, Can any of the experts out there tell me if the Navicom RT-450 DSC is compatible with the Garmin 260 gpsmap.
I did not realize this could be a problem so I would be greatful for any help.
Thanks a million,
Rob

Looks like it should be - the Garmin 620 (assume you got the numbers switched) has two configurable NMEA0183 ports which should be compatible with most DSC radios. I cannot see a manual on-line for the RT-450, but it looks to be a fairly basic radio, so i would assume that it also uses a vanilla NMEA0183 input.

Wow! Thankyou maby. The Garmin is new and unregistered.
Best Regards, Rob.
PS Never expected a reply that quick, your a star!

You will need to read the garmin manual in some detail - those two I/O ports are quite configurable and you'll need to set them correctly. I would expect that you will need to set the port that you connect to "NMEA Std." mode. You can also turn each NMEA sentence on or off individually - the manual does not make clear if they default to "on" or "off" from the factory - if the radio doesn't see the plotter, you may need to go into the configuration screen and turn the correct sentence on - I can't remember which it is off the top of my head, but I'm sure someone else will pop up with the ID.

I think the Navicom RT450 might be the same as the Furuno Radio Ocean RO 4800 set. If you PM me your email address I can provide you the schematic I drew on how to match up the cables and set the I/Os lo speed for Dsc from Garmin to VHF and hi speed from VHF / AIS to Garmin.
