Radio 1

Years ago Radio 1 played the best music; then they started playing *rap and I and and a huge number of others turned to radio 2, which used to be rubbish like 'Charlie Chester ' but is now very good ( apart from the self agraindising Elaine Page who makes me puke then instantly turn elsewhere ).

Do you mean rap or carp? Same thing I guess :)

I normally listen to R1, but last week there was a very irritating DJ so I switched to R2. I was completely smitten by the voice of the presenter; I later discovered it was Claudia Winkleman. I'd never noticed her amazing voice before, too busy lusting after her body I guess.

Nigel,

with reference to a particularly aurally offensive style of talentless non - music the phrases *rap and carp " are completely interchangeable in my and a great many others' opinion ! :)

Merry Christmas,

Andy

An alternative explanation would be that you got older, and moved from R1's target audience to R2's :D

Andy, what you must realise is that the music known as rapp is spelt with a silent 'C'. :(

.

Hi Lenseman,

and Merry Christmas ! :)

I included the silent 'C' as a * but must admit I couldn't be bothered spelling that particular 'music' genre correctly, if such a term even relates...!

I'm quite liberal about music, I can even stand jazz in 5 second doses, but *rap and all its' BS just makes me want to laugh or puke, the definitive term for it is rubbish to put it politely.

Meanwhile this is a sailing Forum I think and Merry Christmas to All !

Radio 1 plays complete rubbish. No music worth its salt (including rap) gets played on R1. It's all pop equivalents, presented by the most inane DJ's.

Radio 2 is no different, it just has more dated music.

Radio 4/Spotify is the only thing worth listening to in my humble and oh so educated opinion.

Oh my. Where to begin. I bet all the rap you've heard is on the radio?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wVQBvzViKY gets yours chops around a bit of Braintax. Listen to the words - that's the important bit, as it's poetry to music...

... talking of which, this is something else that hip hop culture has created. Floetry, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sI6zgWTqFAg

To dismiss all rap music is a bit poor, however, if you want something to get upset over, I present the 8 Bar Grind. :D

Nathan,

as for *rap,

well I did like 'The funky gold medina' by ton' loc ( was he related to my all time favourite Loc Tite ? ) as it was for a refreshing change tongue in cheek, but if all rap 'artists' were bunged onto a starship with the autohelm set for the heart of the sun, it would be

A no loss

B long overdue

Merry Christmas !

Andy

Great track from Tone Lōc's album Lōc-ed After Dark. But it's "cold" not "gold" :) I recall playing his Wild Thing over and over while at the controls of an arcade video game.

My musical tastes have not matured since I was a teenager, but they have become more inclusive. I like nearly everything: heavy metal, metal pop, classical, dance, trance ...

Not reggae though.

I'm still playing Hawkwind in my car, and was delighted by the latest Ford ad' for the B-Max, whatever that is, as the backing music is 'Master Of The Universe'; I doubt the PR genius who came up with that ever wore an afghan at 'atmospheric' gigs though !

a bit odd, and the guy can't sing, but I quite like it.

'Can't sing?!' That's Dave Brock, a National Treasure !

Hope you listen to the lyrics of 'Spirit If The Age', wriiten in the mid 1970's...

See you at Stonehenge ! :)

Well not really but I did once work with a 'Druid' called 'Kreb Dragonrider' ...,

He was a nice guy and I hope he is well going about whatever modern made up Druids do at this time of year.
