Radice seal question

Looks like you’re adding fail points and therefore risk. It’s such an important area I’d be inclined to spend more money on the problem. Also, I don’t know what the insurance issues might be.

If you are not putting a bearing in you need the internal clearance to allow for shaft movement. A bronze reducer brazed onto the stub after turning down that outer lip would I think work. Now I see the stainless tube to mount the seal the silicon reducer to connect the 2 also seems viable and a lot simpler.
 
Been in touch with lake engineering they said as vuv_cox said if it was 25mm then maybe a problem but on 40mm shaft shouldn’t be a problem, just need to sort out something to reduce the stubb down to 60mm think I’m going to do it properly with bronze adapter welded onto the stern tube
