Closure of Radcot Bridge

Radcot Bridge is currently closed to both road and navigation traffic. A lorry has hit the bridge and is currently stuck blocking the road, this has caused damage to the bridge parapets and stone balustrade. Thames Valley Police are concerned about falling masonry and have decided to close the bridge to navigation traffic.

We are working with Thames Valley Police, but at the moment there is no more information on when the bridge will reopen.

Please distribute this information to your members; we will also be displaying this information at locks.

We will provide an update with more information when we know more.

Crikey, what a mess he's, (I guess it was a he), has made of the bridge. I've been over it and under it many times. I already knew that Time Team had been in the adjacent field looking for civil war stuff but didn't appreaciate until just now quite how old the bridge is. What a knob for driving in to it!

I guess he was rushing to beat the lights

I think it's now open I hope it is as I just went under it and no one shouted

It's now official = just got an email. EA said it (the opening) was due to 'Worthing with Oxfordshire CC' - that might cause some amusement...

Having had claims of doom and gloom - closed for many months etc - It been quite speedy

Well done EA and umm - OX CC.
