I am looking for a really good Radar training course. I know the RYA have one but at the end of the days this is as much about the trainer as the course itself so personal reccomendation would be appreciated. BTW I usually go to Bisham Abbey Sailing School - who are excellent - but the only one they have that suits me is in March and I was hoping to get one earlier.

Martin,

Look for a Radar training course run by Robert Avis. He uses the Navy school Radar simulators at a Navy school near Portsmouth - I did the course a couple of years ago and highly recommend it. Robert trades at RAMAR sea school and here are his details: RAMAR Sea Training PO Box 2000, Kenley, CR8 5XL, United Kingdom,

Agree with Jimi's recommendation of Mike Dymond. He came along to the boat and taught me, my brother and my daughter. It's so much better to go through the course using your own radar. He's a nice chap and we had a good, informative day.
