Radar emergency

So follow on to radar thread.you are in Cherbourg having crossed in thick fog.you are there for 3/4days & you notice the radar does not work.so do you get it fixed in France or come back without it.please keep replies light hearted.My crew would not travel back without it regards mm1.

Here/here although for the sake of balance we should alternate between red & white mm1.

Just my view, but I would not attempt to go across in thick fog without Radar. You may well be OK with a very slow bimble back, AIS on a good horn and some good look and listen outs, but the consequences of getting it wrong are too high IMO. Get it sorted there, then come back.

After three/four days in Cherbourg I would be prepared to take on rapids and a waterfall.

It certainly can in the North Sea, I can remember periods of almost a week when the choppers could not fly, this when I was working on the Ekofisk in the 1970s
