Does anyone know of instructions/downloads on this filter. I want to drain the sludge from the bottom see thru bowl but don't want to start fiddling without knowing exatly what I'm doing. Went to the Parker web page, who appear to be the company who make Racor filters but couldn't find any info. Thanks.

Undo the drain plug/nut at the bottom of the glass bowl to drain.
However to get most of the crud out remove the glass bowl.
Four screws.
Phillips type probably.
In the 'ring' holding the bowl on.
IE srewy driver pointing skyward.
Carefull, should be a 'gasket/ o ring/ seal' here.

Just clean the bowl and replace.
The 'T' bar type srew on the top of the filter undoes as normal.
Enabling you to remove the filter element.
When replacing with a new element, fill the filter area, ie the top of the assembly with fresh diesel.
No moving parts.
The cone or 'appolo 13 'shaped thinghy in the glass bit is there to centrifuge the fuel on its way to the eng/ injector via the secondary filter. Or Engines or Filters depending on Your set up.
Taint as complicated as I have put.
But I can't think of a better way to explain sorry.
Praps someone more lucid will arrive /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you email or phone them they will oblige with a pdf. At least they did for me, did have a copy but unable to find it at the moment, but I think I am right in saying that there are two set screws holding the bowl on, they go up into the body? will search for the doc.

Surely you just loosen the black plastic "wheel" at the bottom and the water and crud drain out into a suitable jam jar. You then finger tighten the wheel.

Likely reason you are struggling to drain it is that normally the filter sits above the level in the fuel tank, so there is no gravity fuel feed to push the crud out.

Release the T bar to let air in and the cruddy fuel will drain out, then top up from above brimful with clean fuel.

Or do as I have done with an instantaneous connection to attach the polishing rig outlet to. Tops the Racor up, and back flushes the pickup tube should you get a blockage - fuel additives do neither of these practical tasks.
