A great shame, but I suppose racing yachts are not built to last forever.

I didn't like the sound of "removal of all internal structure" that sounds like they created a significant problem.

The method of construction is not mentioned, so the fastenings failing comment is not helpfull. If plank on frame, then refastening would be possible. But it sounds like some other system. Deep pockets needed.

I saw the boat when she was in Faversham. Would be hugely expensive to restore, I believe. And I'm not sure it would be worth it, though I'm sure someone must love her. I don't find it an attractive shape.

I saw her in the Dockyard boathouse last Autumn. Looked a poor state.
Apparently double-diagonal planked and later 'cascover' sheathed.
