Race Boat Charter

Does anyone here have any experience of chartering a race boat...?

If so I am looking for some advice re insurance, sails, etc and will PM further details.

A number of charter's have race boats or boats registered with its handicap number. They normally charge an extra for race insurance and a larger security deposit. I believe there is an outfit at Port Hamble that has lots of X boats on their charter list. I think out & out race boats are more difficult/expensive to charter.

I lent my boat to a skipper and crew who wanted to race in a regatta at Cowes last year. My insurance company were happy provided I extended the insurance to cover mast and rigging. The premium was paid by them.

They did two races and got a 2nd in one!
