I put the following on our club website yesterday:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right, today is the day! This years race for the 50 mile trophy will be held on 5th October.
The course.
The startline will be the between the Penarth ODM and the flagstaff on the shore. The course then goes to the wreck buoys between the Aberthaw power station and Nash light, about 2 miles off the coast at 51'19.651N 003'29.908W Both buoys to be left to port. After rounding the buoys it is back to the finish line which is the same as the start line.
The Start.
As this is a tide race the start time is up to each of the skippers. If more than one boat crosses the start line at the same time, normal racing rules apply. After boats have crossed the start line they should text me with their crossing time.
The finish.
Skippers should text me with their finish time as soon after finishing as possible.

This race is open to any boat and we will be using Byron handicap numbers. It is obviously an honesty race. I hope to be available at the club from Thursday afternoon (03-10-13) until I leave to enjoy the race and after I, hopefully, finish the race. If a non CYC member wins the race they will be presented with the trophy but, after photographs have been taken, the trophy must stay in the club.
It is the responsibility of each skipper to decide if it is safe for them to take their vessel to sea.
I hope to be at the club this Thursday and over the weekend if anyone wishes to talk about the race.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have, so far about 10 boats entered, so if anyone would like to join us for this fun race please PM me.

We had 24 boats cross the start line and they all got back. From the comments I've had, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, help no doubt, by the perfect weather. They curry and music from the CYC houseband made it a memorableend to a lovely day. We hope to do the same sort of thing next spring.

Congratulations to Nev on winning the 50 miler on his Hunter 19 'Artful Dodger' and single handed, well done Nev.

Thanks to Allan for organising the race and great to see so many CYC boats out there. I think Allan is posting full results 2nd Moontide 3rd Volition.
Lifted from the site!

The 24 boats in the race ranged from 19 to 50 feet. It was won by Artful Dodger, the 19 foot entry. I am happy to admit that I had hoped that the race would be won by a boat that almost anyone could afford.
