One of the problems with mentioning a 'quiet, unspoiled anchorage' on here is that swiftly, it isn't.

Except.....

Interesting entrance ! Anyone know the depths at the entrance and inside the bay ?
The bay is a minimum of 50m deep right across according to my chart. An anchorage virtually in the roaring forties (39°S) is not guaranteed to be all that "quiet", except in terms of human noise. The last residents died of scurvy back in 1930 (according to Wikipedia). Apart from small research bases on Amsterdam and Kerguelen Islands, there is no-one else within a thousand miles.

Incidentally there is another rather similar looking 'anchorage' in a caldera on the SE corner of Faial in the Azores. (See: https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-c...-island-azores-portugal-europe-160501224.html).

Wikipedia says: "Île Saint-Paul is triangular in shape, and measures no more than 5 km (3.1 mi) at its widest. It is the top of an active volcano, the volcano last erupted in 1793 (from its SW Flank), and is rocky with steep cliffs on the east side. The thin stretch of rock that used to close off the crater collapsed in 1780, admitting the sea through a 100 m (330 ft) channel; the entrance is only a few meters deep, thus allowing only very small ships or boats to enter the crater. The interior basin, 1 km (0.62 mi) wide and 50 m (160 ft) deep, is surrounded by steep walls up to 270 m (890 ft) high. There are active thermal springs."

Google Images gives a SHOM chart of some vintage, which shows 1.4m in the entrance. There's a 'Cartouche', apparently.....

Susie Goodall et al would, once past the dense kelp forest, need a Rise of Tide..... or go elsewhere.
