\"Quiet\" Anchor Alarm!

I have a Navman Tracker 5500 chartplotter fitted to Treble C and to be quite honest the anchor alarm seems pretty useless - it's just too quiet!

It beeps with a very genteel sound - Ok on a sunny afternoon whilst moored to eat my sandwiches, but at night when I'm fast asleep I'd never hear it / wake up.

Do any of you have the same unit and problem? Alternatively does anyone have any ideas how I could amplify the noise?

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Re: \"Quiet\" Anchor Alarm!

I have just designed and built 11 units for a marine company in Iran and had to build electronic circuits to alter the output from an "Off-Station" (anchor watch) alarm.

West Sussex is very close to me, if you would like a hand. I am 4 minutes from Junction 10 off the M23.

How about 111dBa at a metre, would that be loud enough for you? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Err.....I just got the info and posted it, I didn't know that you had already added a second post............but I think that for it to be an official 'Lakesailoring' incident, the OP has to thank me first....I could be wrong /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: \"Quiet\" Anchor Alarm!

If you tie a line to a cooking pan or other non floating item, throw it over the side with the other end tied to your toe, you will be woken if your anchor drags.

Fair enough, /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif so i'm still waiting to be Lakesailored. It a right of passage don't you know /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

[ QUOTE ]
Page 35 of the manual seems to suggest that the green wire is used for an external light / beeper........might be what you need?

[/ QUOTE ]Careful - "External beeper or light output, switched to ground, 30 V DC, 200 mA maximum." so if you want a really loud "beeper" you might need another relay in the system.
