i have replaced the gearbox oil in my old yamaha 70hp with quicksilver high performance gear oil it is for all outboards, but i am wondering if i should have used yamlube gear oil which one is best.

I doubt if it will make the slightest difference if they are both outboard gear oils of the correct viscosity and I dont suppose any independent testing has been done to determine if one might be any better than the other.

You may be wasting money on the "High Performance" oil. I would have used the Quicksilver "Premium outboard gear oil" ( Note that the two must not be mixed)

But FWIW I use an ordinary automotive EP90 gear oil in my small ( 6hp) Evinrude. I would not do so in a larger more powerful outboard though!
