Quicksilver dinghy pump question

I have bought a boat with a Quicksilver airdeck dinghy as tender. It appears a good dinghy but has no pump. Looking at the valves, they seem a little different to my last Zodiac valves in that they have a central 'nipple' that needs pressing (!) to release the air, rather than a more simple flap.

Quicksilver seem to think they are unique and that I need a Quicksilver pump (of course they do!)

Does anyone know if this is the case? Or indeed have one in their garage!

I am sure if you push in and twist the nipple they are kept open for pumping up or letting down which means you do not need a Quicksilver pump. Try pushing and turning them just in case.

Any pump will do as long as it's a tight fit in the hole. Granted the quicksilver pump's nozzles clip into the hole but an ordinary airbed pump will do. You only need to push the nipples in to let it down, push and twist locks them down. Got one myself and use a cheap £7.00 electic pump to do all the hard work and just do the last bit with a proper pump.

The QS pump at full price is 29 quid, they are very good and will enable you to get those floor and keel sections up to the right pressure. Without the right connector you will be trying to get them over-full so that they balance out while you undo said nipple.

A good dinghy but a crap pump anyway you want the bellows type .

You can buy an "octopus" a plastic inhection moulding and on each of the legs is an adapter for a different air valve . They cost a couple of quid and will adapt a standard pump including an avon to Quicksilver. I think they also have ones for lilos and barrage balloons.

I have one of the bellows type pumps, it has a safety valve (preset and unadjustable) and it does not seem to make the inflatable hard enough.

Sorry, more helpfully, on my QS dinghy, the valve has a ring surrounded by supporting plastic "arms" that the pegs on the pump adapter lock in to.

So, another pump would probably work a bit, but I think you need the adapters to secure to the valve. Also, you'll struggle to get the right pressure in the inflatable floor with a regular pump.

Easier all round to splash out on the real thing.
