quicksilver 540 cruiser - any advice and comments

Hi There, anyone know about this boat? I am looking at a used one as my first boat. I will be using it in the med for days out and fishing.

Where I am we have an interesting coastline, with many sand bar islands and tidal estuaries between the land and the sandbar beaches.

Look forward to people's thoughts. As seems usual boat comes with mercury outboard. 100HP 4 stroke.

Suggest you have a look on http://www.worldseafishing.com/forums/boat-owning-equipment-maintenance/ there are a lot of Quicksilver owners on there.

It's cheap and cheerful and will generally put a smile on your face.
For a little more money you will get a better built boat that will feel nicer to drive, but the Quicksilver will do the same job.

Hi nauti, thanks for the reply. It always seems that if you spend just a little more, you will find something much better. It makes no difference what you are buying, a car, a house, a boat, a motorbike, a caravan. he one you really want is just out of reach. But I am pleased with your reply. I just want to potter around in it and do some fishing. Sounds like it will do the job and be safe. Thanks again.

Hi Fergus,

Just noticed your post. I had a Quicksilver 510 Cruiser as my first boat, Loved it!! Easy to launch and manouvre, not a bad turn of speed, had a mercury 75 2 stoke, generally put a smile on your face. For pottering around bays and Estuarys should be fine, nothing fancy but great fun. Had the boat 3 years and enjoyed every trip.

Hi BillEbob, thanks for taking the trouble to reply. That is reassuring. I am also looking at a 500 commander with a 60hp engine. But I think the cruiser is a bit more versatile.
