There must be lots of us out there that are still afloat but want to lift out, scrub and re-antifoul sometime before the spring. This will involve probably about 2 weeks blocked off in a yard somewhere. Being in the Solent area I`ve looked at the prices for some local yards and consistantly come up with (by the time you`ve added up all components) of between £ 550.00 and £ 800.00 for the task. Surely there must be a cheaper way to sort my 26ft fin keeler out --- isn`t there ? Not all of us got a big bonus this Christmas.

yes, I do this quite a bit during the Summer as they have some great scrubbing piles at Bucklers Hard but the bottom doesn`t dry off enough between tides to apply new antifouling.

[/ QUOTE ] Curious, as a lot of us anti foul between tides. Pick a nice breezy warm day, start scrubbing at half tide, and by the time I have finished, the other end is nearly dry enough to start painting. Otherwise if the fouling is bad or the boat a big one, do it over 2 tides.

Fark me, take it to the east coast, preferably north of Lowestoft, and have it done for the loose change in your pocket, by people who know what they're doing...

Thanks everybody for the well rounded advice. Since it`s only a short term storage issue I`ve gone for Gosport Boatyard and they have very cheap Lift out / re-launch prices but long term their storage prices are steep compared to other local winter packages. The Hayling Yacht Company still have a very good winter package for long term however, with lots of services on site. Thanks again. NickDick
