Tomorrow - morning train and evening high tide - /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif we're off to the Roach then Crouch via Havengore. Will mooch around there for a few days and leave the boat somewhere for a week or two before setting off again northward. Any advice about a cheap but safe place to leave the boat welcome!
So looking forward to it!

Well,
I reckon you could do worse than head up river Roach to Rochford. Wakering YC have pontoons where they may be able to give you a mud berth for a week or two. If not then next door is cheap, Suttons (not as Gt Wakering!) 01702 546147 . More mud.

Also possible is Paglesham Reach Moorings, who have visitors deep water moorings, but not sure about a couple of weeks, run by an association so probably cheap. Go there and find out! They didnt charge me last weekend....

You can also stay at Great Wakering itself at Suttons Boatyard 01702 219422. Ivan can be a funny [--word removed--] though!

If you are going to Burnham, give Rice and Cole a ring on 01621 782063, deep water with launch service (where I am moored) or Priors Boatyard 01621 782160.

Many more to choose from if you cant find anything from that lot.

Welcome in...

Jim

Thanks for that!
Yes the bridge is working - at least we spoke to them today and they said no problem for tomorrow.
Cheers.

Bridgemarsh is cheap, cheerful and convenient (5 minutes walk from Althorne station). It's behind Bridgemarsh island about 5 miles up the Crouch from the Roach. I don't have the phone number with me. You just phone Biff's mobile, usually, and he'll find you somewhere on a rather rickety pontoon, which may dry to softish mud. Nice friendly place.

Thanks for all great replies here and on PBO. We left her at Bridgemarsh on the Crouch in the end but had great times creek crawling on the Roach first. Spent a night at Paglesham in creek there, but too late to walk to Punchbowl so went to Plough and Sail - fine. Btw Ferry Boat at North Fambridge a lovely pub, minutes from the jetty and good anchorage.
Lovely sailing, no crowds. Essex rules! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif We're new to this and it was the first time we'd spent a night on the mud and the first time we'd anchored. Not to mention doing the sums to get to the Havengore on time. All worked fine. Next time - the Blackwater ...
