We took a short trip out today down to Boveney Lock and back up to Bray Lock and turned back to Bray marina. Very quiet out there, we had the river to ourselves. A bit chilly but with a hot cup of coffee and some chocy biscuits still very enjoyable.

We were out this weekend, too. Windsor was sunny and bright and looking beautiful. The new Windsor Racecourse bridge, on the other hand, is looking like an ugly monster.

Thanks for the bridge construction pics.

I am still trying to work out why the bridge is necessary, the racecourse side :confused:is only being used as a DROPOFF point for coaches, not a vehicle park as such.

The windsor access roads will be overloaded when the bridge is in full use,the dorney side is almost as close to the M4,and there is already a bridge to dorney opposite BRAY marina, which is even closer to the M4.

I seem to remember at a recent RUG 7meeting (info. via TMBA) it was mentioned that passenger boats were authorised to run a boat service from Windsor to the Racecourse pier, so that probably means they walk up to cross over the bridge? That's more people . . . .
I've also heard (?) the footbridge at Bray Marina will not be used in any official capacity. This may be hearsay, of course.
Perhaps the width is for two way human traffic, plus possible emergency vehicles?
I'm sure we'll be the last to know!
