As I replaced my last Lofrans foot switch which had corroded away as usual I grabbed the Quick foot switch [ the only one the local chandler had in stock ] and set about fitting it. I was slightly surprised to see a small microswitch inside the rubber button.

The microswitch is the only thing likely to go wrong and at a quid a go, some spare microswitches will be a good investment.

I was reluctant to dismantle mine as we have a dose of reinforced trades blowing and very large construction barges moving around in the anchorage just now.

Anybody got any idea of the switch type or where to look?

I have just replaced one microswitch on our Quick footswitch with one from Maplin.

This was the one I bought, SPDT Miniature Microswitch, and you have to remove one leg (2) to fit it into the rubber holder.

I would advise you to put a small amount of silicone grease under the switch - to waterproof the terminals and top of wire.
