Quick eber fuel question

I know diesel is the standard fuel for an eberspacher, but is the alternative paraffin or kerosene?

Thanks,

Simon
Hers is some specs for those who want to delve deeper, http://www.caldo.co.uk/bulk_fuels.htm
at the bottom of the page

More info here
Annex I: Classification of Fuel Oils.
Classification of various grades of fuel oil according to crude distillate fraction (“crude
fraction”) and application. Source: Annex A to BS 2869:1998 [45].
Category Crude Fraction Primary Application
A1 Automotive diesel fuel.
A2 Middle distillate Agricultural engine fuel.
C1 Paraffin Flue-less heating appliances.
C2 Kerosene Vaporising or atomising domestic heating appliances.
D Middle distillate Atomising burners for domestic, commercial or
industrial applications.
E - H Residual
distillate
Atomising burners for boilers or certain industrial
engines which may require pre-treatment or additives.
Conversion factor 1ppm = 6.99 mg m--3; 1 mg m--3 = 0.143 ppm.

So C2 from the first website gives us Kerosene at 28secs, it would appear from the listing immediately above that paraffin is heavier than 28 sec oil (C2 Kerosene) but not as heavy as A1 and A2 therefore I would guess that proper paraffin cut with red would be suitable

Hmm I have followed this thread and it raises a question to me, (my simple mind)

Can I use Paraffin in my Volvo 2020 engines instead of Diesel?

My dad used to mix Paraffin and diesel to run the old Massey Ferg tractor.

I've used kero in my Volvo MD2B engine for years with about half a pint of cheapo engine oil for pump lubricant with no apparent ill effects. Maybe the 2000 series engines are a bit more technical though.

Ahh, the urban myth rearing its ugly head.
Stu

Stu, is it an urban myth as well that Ebers are better run on white than red diesel? And that they are better run on full power than less than full? Reason I ask is thinking about fitting a separate tank for the Eber so can run on white diesel and also to partially accommodate the fact that I only have a 22L fuel tank. Why they would fit such a tiny tank on a boat with a 18HP diesel engine I'm not sure...

I dont know if the myth is true or not but we installed a seperate tank and run exclusivley on white diesel, we have run it through with parafin on more than one occasion but never had a problem with sooting or carbon buildup, looking at the burner, other than a light coat of carbon dust it's as clean is the day it went in and probably run for around 100hrs so far.

Been running the eber on paraffin for the last 4 or 5 years and never had a problem with it. Never serviced it and it seems to keep going. I think I may change to white diesel as it is marginally cheaper at the moment. According to eber, white diesel is much 'cleaner' burning than red.
