Here we are at st kats, all very nice, had a great trip up from burnham (took about three hours total). we have done most of what we wanted to do here so

1/ Where do we go from here inland bearing in mind we have a cavalier king Charles called Gizmo who likes to be involved. (SWMBO wanted to go to Windsor castle but Gizmo is not allowed in the grounds)

2/ We need min 1.3 m depth, anywhere to avoid ?

3/ Why do we have to travel at max 12 knots & get overtaken every five minutes by everybody else ???????

How long have you got? As you can only go either upriver or downriver, where you go is largely a matter of how long you have before you need to return and when you care to stop.
Windsor is nice if you havent been though very touristy. Hampton Court deffo worth a visit and if SWMBO likes the shops worth stopping at Kingston - you can moor up just below the bridge right next to John Lewis..

Ah...now thats a difficult one ! You shouldnt have a problem midstream anywhere up to Reading but getting alongside the bank will be a problem in many places unless you can lift legs. You certainly wont be able to moor up on the Eton side at Windsor for instance.

He he.....thats life! Wait till you get onto the non tidal - then you'll be expected to travel at 4 knots and be overtaken by everybody else !

Have PM'd you a phone number if you'd like more detailed info.

We took our new boat with a 4ft draft from Staines to Cookham at the weekend without drama. We did have to pick our mooring spot carefully and ended up rafted with a narrowboat on Saturday night. On Sunday we moored at Windsor on the Windsor side without trouble (even our Freeman had trouble on the Eton side once).

There were a few spots where I was expecting trouble, but had none.

* got onto The Swan no problem too :)

Windsor is a lovely place to stop, as Tony has mentioned, depth is a problem on the Eton side, but if you trim your drives up you might be OK, otherwise a fair bit of morring on the Windsor side. How long are you planning on being on the non-tidal? Weather looking good for you this week, I'll keep my fingers crossed! We might see you in Burnham August bank holiday, we're planning on going there as back up to Boulogne if the weather isn't too good.

Thanks all for your help, ended up staying at st kats for a couple of days longer than planned & then coming straight back to burnham due to Nicky (swmbo) not being too well. Was good fun nonetheless considering. Boys enjoyed it especially the younger one.
