Question re VHF antennae

Just gone through my raymarine 'ready to sail' box of goodies and can find no VHF antenna to mount on mast of le nouveau bateau. Also, perusing web sites of both Raymarine and cactus can find no recommendations as to what to go for. Help please! the radio is a raymarine 218e

If it is standard VHF radio you do not have to have the same make for the VHF aerial, thats why you probably did not find one in the box!
If your boat is a yacht get a 'mast aerial' and fit it to the top of the mast, if not get a 2.5 m aerial and fit it min 1m away from you GPS aerial.
If you already have a mast aerial then it should work of it ok.

I simply got the dealer to install a Hawk combined antennae/windex during commissioning. Having had to replace one on my old boat, if you want to do it yourself I would only consider it when the mast is down.

It is certainly easier when the mast is down. Or you could get a 7-year old to do it, now there aren't the chimneys to send them up /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
