Question re Salcombe

It all depends on whether you are one of those whose dinghy gathers dust in a cockpit locker. If you are prepared to anchor and dinghy ashore, there is a nice spot at the entrance of Frogmore Creek (check the chart - avoid the drying reef). The town gets busy - you'll need to book if you want to eat ashore in summer.

Beautiful Salcombe is bound to get busy.

Only problem is, still too many yachts and pleasure motors refuse to fit holding tanks, therefore children playing in the shallows could be vulnerable.

Shame.

Just playing around with a plan and hoping to stay an extra day now as there seems so much to do: walks, museums, fish and chips, beer, dinghy racing -- no wonder it's full in the summer!!

Now Snowleopard, I have no idea what made you make that comment; but last night I followed the link one of you posted -- with a potential departure date of the last week of April. Then I noticed that the harbour taxi only starts going until 11:00pm from 1st May and thought, well that would save.... :o:o

Seriously though, I don't mind the tender if it's a row ashore job, well paddle actually as the rowlocks on my Zodiac are uber-trash. Attaching the OB is more of a pill, especially for just one night and if one has to pull the pesky thing in before an early start!. well that's my excuse!!

At a bit over a mile from town, I wouldn't fancy hand-propelling an inflatable from the anchorage I suggested, especially as you're bound to be going against teh tide one way - but you may be younger and fitter than I. I have the benefit of an 11 ft rigid tender with a reliable engine so I rarely trouble the water taxis.
