I have a '86 Jouet 760 with worn rudder components. The rudder is hung on two transom mounted pintles, both with pins that appear to have started life as 5/8 inch, but have worn to a smaller size. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
The rudder has two gudgeons which carry a bearing of approx 7/8 inch diameter and a bore that should match the pintle.
The simplest solution to resolving the play in the rudder is to replace the pintle and bearings with identical items, but internet searches do not find any companies that can match these sizes. 99% of searches find dinghy sized equipment, nothing listed as suitable for a 27' foot yacht with 45mm thick rudder.
Does anyone have any suggestions where to look ? I know we can probably get these made, but that would be considerably more expensive than sourcing ready made parts, I assume...

Are these any use?

simplest way would be to get just the bearings made to fit the pintles. clean up the pintles with wet and dry. find a local supplier who will machine delrin bearings for you. shouldn`t cost more than £20 on a cash basis. take the old ones along as a template and specify the inside diameter to fit the pintles.

Thanks for your suggestions so far. Unfortunately, Sea Sure only seem to be dinghy sized, and I am sure I read on the rig-rite site that their 1/2" pintle was suitable for up to 20'.

Any other ideas ?

What is the pin diameter now?
