question about boating/weather f\'casts

I have to get the boat back from itlay to france. Unfortuantely, although this could be 100 yards, it's not, and i have to cross in a straight east-to west line north of corsica IF the boat is ready (which it may or may not be). Yeah, the Ligurian Sea.

So, the question is, where do i find med wind forecasts on the web for 3-5 days ahead? Cos the blimming meteo france has cut back the 3 days wind forecast to 2 days and charges loot for 3days plus it seem the toerags.

imho www.greatweather.co.uk Then click forecast charts, then go to the gmueller links which are listed as 12,24,36etc hours ahead. That gives you a chart, with a scale to calc windspeeds.

Incidentally, yesterday was sunny flat calm, glorious. But apparently 5-6 forecast later this week, so people in bars saud

Re: wetter 24

this german site seem to show that the wind will be north/north east on freitag and on samstag 10-12 knots, which would mean flattish seas. It's also ok on donnerstag, not sure which day that is, so best not bother till freitag, which i am am fairly sure is friday. BUT first have to see if boat is done. If they say yeah, we've had enough and we think it is done, i will go.

Try
http://www.dwd.de/de/WundK/W_aktuell/Seewetter/seewett_mm.html#Wetterlage
again it's only 48 hr but I use it via the modem because it's a quick download.
There is
http://www.wetteronline.com/
and the Meteo France one you already have but as info for others, its the NAVTEX communication
http://www.meteo.fr/marine/naviweb/bulletins/MED_NVTX.html
The best of luck, we are down with our boat in Sardinia from 14 Jan but that's a bit too far south to be useful to you I think.

Why not email your dilemma, as a one off request, to the chaps at metcheck.com. They might be able to help, I have been mailing them 2day and they respond very quickly and nicely, seems they are experts only too keen to help and whilst this area is outside their immediate scope I'll bet their hi-tech gizmos cover the med or they know someone who will.

Re: question about boating/weather f\'casts

Try one of these:

http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/sail.htm

http://www.meto.govt.uk/weather/charts/animation.html

This should give you an indication of what you can expect of weather, pressure buildup and pressure movements for the next three days. Following that you can look at the bigger picture and based upon the pressure movements (highs & lows), you should be able of predicting the following day of two with reasonable certainty.

Looking at the expected movement of the low over Italy, Corsica, for the next couple of days, you can expect NE, moderate winds to be dominant. Perhaps turning towards East if Low continues to move Westwards, but no significant increase of wind. Looks like better weather is coming in from the East, but need a broader overview for that... Of course, it may be easeir to ask the professionals at the Met office and not rely upon our predicions and rambelling ons....
