It's years since I've sailed much inside Chichester Harbour.

Tomorrow (Monday), I hope to be able to take out a very pretty little gaff cutter for a few hours.

Charts and pilots are onboard, but I recall that it used to be possible to lie along the quay at high water.

Can anyone confirm if that's still possible, please?

If you also know whether the sailing club would be serving lunch, that would be an added bonus.

Many thanks.

Tomorrow (Mon 5th) is a spring, therefore access about 21/2 hrs each side of HW. Dry out if you want. Its £6 short stop or £12 overnight. £26 gets you use of the grid and pressure washer.
Fender boards supplied. The OGA had a rally there 3 wks ago with 8 boats alongside. Lengths from 20 to 73' OA, drafts from 18" to 5'6". I arrived (drawing 5'6" 1 1/2 hrs after hw and there was still 8' of water (ish).

Not sure aboiut club food, but beer good. For food go either to the Anchor Blue, or a 5 min walk tp the Berkley Arms IMHO better), or for supplies up to the roundabout to the new Co-op.

You should be able to sail all the way up with these westerlies, and all the way back down too.

Have a good trip!

ps The Comanche is a fine craft, Dad had one for 15 yrs, 'Eurotica'.

Thanks Nick....very useful information.

Yes, the Comanche is a fine craft indeed, but, at heart, I still love the aesthetics of gaff rig (yes, lug rig even more so, though only ever sailed lug rigged dinghies - nothing bigger).
