Always seems to happen to Sunseekers for some reason:

I am surprised this does not happen more often in the med.

There are loads of marinas where you can drive to the back of your boat or get cars close to the waters edge in general.

Great picture!

Well thats one way of fendering your boat off the quay in a storm:D Where was that? We came back from Antibes last night and didn't notice any kerfuffle

Hmn --- On Easter on a maintenance trip with a mate ,we just got the boat back to the berth and shot out Antibes to get some bits .
On returning I parked the hire car in a rush and forgot the handbrake .
As we unloaded the boot ,it started to roll fwds ---- just managed to reopen drivers door while mate attempted to hold it back as it rolled on a slight gradient to the edge .
Front wheels were a few inches away .
It was at the little car part @ la Nap near the entrance ------- erh. Where S/skr and Prinny keep stock boats and new dels for PDI ,s
It would have ,could have rolled in ( if we just blipped and turned our back and walked off ) into the owners mid cabin window of a Prinny 57 or something ! Which was moored was 1m from the edge side on .

It's happened a few times in Antibes, which is surprising because the quays are flat.

The Jen/Jfm/Bcu pic is interesting though because you'd expect the car to literally grind to a halt on the edge of the quay once the front wheels have gone over, unless perhaps it was being driven at the time.

I don't think they are Nick: they have a distinct crown to them

Yep you would. Also any car that rolls from its parking space would be at an angle to the quai edge, not perpendicular, because the car park spaces are angled. Hard to fathom. This one is particularly spectacular - about 3 years ago on y quai:

Mmm I'm getting slightly suspicious about this latest one. If it was driven into the sea by accident what happened to the driver? And given the fact that the car went in forwards, the driver could hardly have not noticed he/she was about to drive into the sea. If it rolled into the sea on its own, do people really leave cars with no handbrake on and no gear engaged parked on a quay? Yes, I suppose my SWMBO would.

Looks to me like some enterprising local scallywags might have been trying car doors late at night and when they found an unlocked one decided it would be a good idea to take the handbrake off and push it over the edge

Could just be a new way of looking for the car keys...
